Photographer and Craftsman
Joseph E. Haslett, Jr.'s
IMAGES Collection
Joseph Haslett, EdD. was a professional educator who taught at all levels from elementary school to graduate study. A native Virginian, he came to Pensacola, Florida in 1980 to join the staff of the Chief of Naval Education & Training, where he was Head of Curriculum & Instructional Policy. Joe began exhibiting his photos in local shows and has won numerous awards, including Best Color Print at the 1992 Pensacola Interstate Fair. A former industrial arts teacher, he was an accomplished craftsman in many materials, but worked mostly in wood and the visual arts. The pictures in his IMAGES collection usually consist of a complete package of his own work - photograph, mat and frame. He preferred tranquil scenes in natural seascape and landscape settings. Admitting to a passion for certain subjects, Joe would often drive miles over back country roads in search of rustic old barns, hike long rugged mountain trails to shoot majestic waterfalls, or wait patiently for wildlife subjects to enter into the range of his camera.
